Advantages of Canvas over Nylon Tents
Canvas is a natural sustainable material and has been used in the production of shelters for centuries. Has a far lower environmental impact than nylon
Tear resistance on any canvas tent is very good. Repairs to affected areas are easier to carry out on canvas and are completed to a more satisfactory level.
Canvas tents are much cooler than nylon equivalents on a hot day, canvas tents are in addition warmer on a cold day.
The natural weave of canvas in the high quality canvas used in every Canvas and Cast tent means there is no need for a main fly. The canvas is inherently water resistant, and Canvas and Cast tents have further treatments that are integral to the fabric. Seam sealants are therefore not required. Each bell tent also comes complete with a flue protective flashing panel sewn in so no need to cut canvas when inserting any additional flue flashings. The insertion of a stove into a nylon tent would have untold complications with regards to flue exit and safety.
If cared for properly a canvas tent will outlive its nylon counterpart being less susceptible to the elements and easier to repair and maintain.
